Meet the BIANCA Box

A protective physical barrier with active HEPA filtration

Self-sustaining, self-contained, and amazingly agile

The BIANCA Box helps protect healthcare professionals in a mobile or clinical setting from a patient’s potentially-infectious aerosolized droplet particles. The box provides a layer of protection in addition to the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) by combining a physical barrier with an active HEPA filtration system.

Invest in preventing the next outbreak and commit to protecting our first responders.

PREVENT ANOTHER OUTBREAK

Protection

  • Equipped with its own 3M High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter and motor. Powered by an 8-hour battery pack.

  • Creates a negative-pressure micro-environment within the box to prevent the spread of infectious aerosolized droplets from escaping.

    Agility

    • Folds down to a height of five inches in under twenty seconds. Can be fully deployed in approximately one minute.

    • Ideal for first responders to use upon the initial point of contact with a confirmed or suspected infectious patient.

      Functionality

      • A proprietary brace and anchor system keeps the box securely attached to any ambulance cot, gurney, or hospital bed.

      • In an emergency, the entire unit can be quickly pulled backward and away from the patient without difficulty, allowing complete access to the patient within seconds.

      Research Findings

Improved Testing and Design of Intubation Boxes During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Annals of Emergency Medicine

Rigid plastic barrier enclosures that incorporate sufficient active air filtration provide improved protection to health care workers during simulated intubations. Additionally, they provide a means to safely isolate individual patients and may also protect health care workers during patient transport. Read the full study

Innovative Biocontainment Unit Shows Promise, US Department of Defense & University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

Researchers from the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Army Research Laboratory and the university created an individual biocontainment unit that uses negative pressure to suction the air from around a patient to filter out viral particles. This prevents environmental contamination and limits exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Read the full article

Protective Barrier Enclosures Without Negative Pressure Used During the COVID-19 Pandemic May Increase Risk to Patients and Health Care Providers, US Food & Drug Administration

If electing to use a protective barrier enclosure for additional protection during aerosolizing procedures by HCPs, FDA recommends the use of devices that incorporate negative pressure. Read the full article

      Design Features

      QUICK 10-SECOND SETUP

Straightforward & simple assembly minimizes setup errors and provides faster patient isolation.

      Impact Resistant & Lightweight

Aluminum frame, polycarbonate panels, and collapsible stainless steel IV Pole.

      3M Components

Motor, HEPA filtration with 10 air exchanges/minute, 8-hour battery. All reusable.

      Universal Design

Attaches to all hospital & ambulance beds. Folds down to five inches. Set up in approximately one minute.

      Reduce the Spread of Infection

The BIANCA Box can significantly reduce the spread and transmission of infectious aerosolized droplet particles produced during aerosolized generating procedures such as endotracheal intubation & extubation, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and bi-level positive airway pressure use, high flow oxygen use, nebulizer breathing treatment use, as well as endoscopy, bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, endoscopy, and chest physiotherapy procedures.

      Improve Patient Treatment

Allows healthcare professionals to safely implement and perform aerosolized generating procedures such as an emergency CPAP or nebulizer breathing treatment so that the infected patient can receive necessary life-saving treatments/procedures sooner.

      Increase Efficiency

Reduced time and cost expenditures in the long run by cutting out the labor involved in the cleaning and disinfection of the healthcare equipment. Substantially reduces the risk of transmission and contamination during the disinfection process.
